Euromoney names Standard Bank best bank in Malawi

Standard Bank Plc has been named the Best Bank in Malawi at the 2026 Euromoney Awards for Excellence.

The recognition is part of 18 accolades awarded to Standard Bank Group operations across 12 African countries for their performance, innovation and impact in investment banking, large corporate banking and ecosystem services.

Standard Bank Malawi Chief Executive Phillip Madinga said the award demonstrates the bank’s commitment to supporting sustainable growth while providing innovative financial solutions tailored to the changing needs of its customers.

“This award is a testament of our team’s dedication and unwavering commitment to providing our customers with the best services tailored to suit their financial needs. It also reflects the trust that Malawians place in us as their best financial service provider,” said Madinga.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are among the most prestigious recognitions in the global banking industry, attracting entries from more than 100 countries and around 600 banks annually.

Standard Bank Group also received accolades in several other African markets, including Tanzania, Mauritius, Kenya, Ghana, Botswana and South Africa.

Group Chief Executive Officer Sim Tshabalala said the awards demonstrate the bank’s ability to serve clients across different sectors of the African economy.

He said the group remains focused on connecting capital to opportunities and supporting trade, infrastructure, energy and broader economic development across the continent.

Tshabalala attributed the achievement to the commitment of Standard Bank employees across Africa and the continued trust of its clients.
