Moyale Football Club’s struggles at Mzuzu Stadium have nothing to do with the change of venue, according to sports analyst Pickford Kamanga.
Kamanga was reacting to Moyale’s winless run at Mzuzu Stadium since returning from Rumphi Stadium, where the team has played four matches, losing 1-0 to Silver Strikers, drawing 2-2 with Masters FC, 2-2 with Kamuzu Barracks and 1-1 with Mighty Wanderers.
He argued that Moyale have used Mzuzu Stadium as their home ground for a long time, despite recording better results while playing in Rumphi.
“The poor form is not about the venue. Moyale have been using Mzuzu for a long time,” Kamanga said.
Instead, he attributed the team’s struggles to tactical problems, noting that Moyale have conceded goals in every home game played since their return to Mzuzu. He also said the team is in a rebuilding phase, with young players still gaining experience.
His sentiments come as veteran journalist Draxon Maloya also raised concerns over the team’s performance, saying Moyale have internal issues to resolve and are failing to make the most of their home advantage.
“Moyale need to sort out the differences that clearly exist among them, otherwise the team could find itself in the relegation zone,” Maloya warned.
Coach Pritchard Mwansa admitted after the match against Silver Strikers that the team’s home form was disappointing and required urgent improvement.
Moyale are currently 10th in the FDH Premiership with 21 points.
