Silver Strikers Ladies cruised to a 7-0 win over Rumphi Sisters in the NBM Women’s Premiership, with Yamikani Mhango and Grace Kakangula sharing all seven goals.
Mhango opened the scoring in the 4th minute to set the tone for the Bankers. Kakangula doubled the lead in the 18th, and Mhango struck again two minutes later to make it 3-0.
Mhango completed her first-half hat-trick with goals in the 28th and 42nd minutes, sending Silver into the break 5-0 up.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Kakangula scored her second and Silver’s sixth in the 53rd minute, before Mhango sealed the rout with her fifth goal in the 63rd.
Rumphi Sisters showed more resilience after the break and limited further damage, but never looked like finding a consolation goal.
The defeat is Rumphi Sisters’ fourth in five games, and they have managed just one win so far this season. For Silver Strikers Ladies, victory lifts them to 12 points, level at the top with Central Region rivals Civil Service Women.
Speaking after the match, Silver Strikers coach Shadreck Chikhosi said his side was hungry for goals.
“In the first 15 minutes we agreed to get two or three goals. It didn’t happen as planned, but we have scored many goals,” he said.
He added that the target is to maintain their winning momentum.
For Rumphi Sisters, assistant coach Gilbert Mikhuwa admitted his players were overawed by the occasion.
“These girls were afraid because this is a big team, so they were just watching instead of playing,” he said.
He was, however, optimistic that the team will improve in the coming matches.
