The Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) says it is intensifying preparations to ensure public institutions are ready for the full implementation of the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS) by December 2026.
PPDA Acting Director General Timothy Kalembo says the authority is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that entities are adequately prepared to transition to the electronic procurement platform.
Kalembo was speaking after the World Bank commended PPDA for progress made in implementing MANePS, while urging the authority to strengthen communication and training ahead of the deadline.
World Bank Lead Procurement Specialist Howard Bariira Centenary said sustained support will be important to ensure that all entities are confident and comfortable using the system.
He has also called on PPDA to remain vigilant and scale up awareness and training activities as implementation progresses.
MANePS is being implemented with funding from the World Bank through the Performance for Results (PforR) component.
