A section of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets supporters has called for leadership changes at the club, with ‘supporter’ Billy Sevele, popularly known as Billy One, demanding the removal of Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga and National Supporters’ Committee General Secretary Archibald Kasakura.
Sevele, who has been at the forefront of demonstrations against the two officials, argues that the club has lost direction under the current leadership.
He has also urged Nyasa Manufacturing Company, which took over the club in 2017, to fulfil commitments it made at the time, including the construction of club houses, a stadium and the acquisition of a team bus.
“What we need is transparency and accountability. If the said people do not step down from their positions, we will encourage supporters to stop patronising Bullets’ games from Nsanje to Chitipa,” he said.
Responding to the calls, Chigoga said he has no objection to supporters raising concerns but insisted there are established channels for doing so.
“As Bullets CEO, I don’t have a problem with people complaining, but the supporters know the protocols to follow. Bullets has offices. If those supporters have valid reasons and are doing it out of love for the team, they could have come to our offices and tabled their complaints,” said Chigoga in a recent interview with Mpira TV.
He further claimed that those leading the demonstrations have personal interests.
“I believe those supporters have their personal agendas,” he added.
Bullets Director of Supporters Mphatso Kamzingeni also dismissed the campaign, saying those behind it have motives that are not in the club’s best interests.
Meanwhile, Kasakura declined to comment on the matter when contacted.
The calls for leadership changes have intensified over the past two weeks, with some supporters carrying placards demanding the removal of Chigoga.
The pressure escalates after the People’s team suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 to Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium on Saturday.
The result leaves the defending champions fourth on the TNM Super League table with 20 points from 11 matches.
