Finance Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha says Malawi is facing a number of economic challenges, including unsustainable debt, rising prices of goods and high interest rates.
Mwanamvekha made the remarks in Blantyre when he officially opened the launch of the Malawi Revenue Authority’s Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2031.
He said government is working to address the economic challenges facing the country, with the MRA expected to play a key role in supporting these efforts.
“As government, we are working to address these challenges, and the Malawi Revenue Authority has a major role to play in this process,” Mwanamvekha said.
The event was attended by government officials, representatives from public and private companies, non-governmental organisations and members of the media.
