State Second Vice President Enoch Chihana has stressed that democracy, unity and social capital remain the foundation for Malawi’s socioeconomic development.
Chihana made the remarks after hosting Karonga Central Constituency Member of Parliament Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo at his residence in Mzuzu.
Writing on his Facebook page, Chihana said Malawi can only achieve prosperity if its citizens engage in honest and constructive dialogue.
“We submit to the gravity of democracy, unity, and social capital as bedrock for socioeconomic development. There is no other vehicle for the nation to attain prosperity if we cannot have candid discussions as citizens of this great nation, Malawi,” wrote Chihana.
He also expressed gratitude to Mwenifumbo for visiting him, describing the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen ties and exchange ideas.
In a separate Facebook post, Mwenifumbo thanked Chihana for hosting him, describing the visit as a moment of brotherhood and appreciation.
