Mchacha points to K5bn per constituency allocation as proof of Mutharika’s delivery

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Southern Region Governor Charles Mchacha says the government has started fulfilling its development promises made during the 2025 presidential campaign.

Citing the K5 billion allocation to each constituency as evidence of progress, Mchacha says the funding is already enabling constituencies to undertake development initiatives, including supporting students who have been selected to attend secondary schools.

Mchacha: Now, as a constituency and as a district, we have money

He was speaking at a political rally he organised at Bvumbwe Research Ground in Thyolo, where he thanked people in the area for voting for President Arthur Peter Mutharika in the September 16, 2025 presidential election.

Mchacha said the meeting was also aimed at assuring people that promises made by Mutharika are now being translated into action at constituency and district level.

“First of all, I organised this meeting just to thank people for the vote they gave Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on the 16th of September, and also to assure the people of this district that what our President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika promised is now happening in our district assemblies,” said Mchacha.

He said the constituency is also using available resources to ensure that students selected to secondary schools are able to pursue their education without financial difficulties.

“Now, as a constituency and as a district, we have money, and we are trying our best to make sure that each and every child who has been selected to go to secondary school is able to go and continue their education without having any problems,” he said.

Mchacha said the developments demonstrate that Mutharika is delivering on his electoral promises.

“Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika promised them, and now he is fulfilling what he promised to his people,” said Mchacha.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Victor Musowa, who attended the rally, said Parliament has a responsibility to communicate government development programmes to citizens through their elected representatives.

“For the first time, we have five billion in our constituencies for different huge developments that are happening. That message can only be delivered by the representatives of the people,” said Musowa.

Musowa also called for cooperation among the three arms of government, saying the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary should work together despite differences that may arise.

“We are one government. There might be issues, but issues are always solved,” he said.

The rally was organised by Mchacha as part of activities aimed at engaging people in the area and highlighting development initiatives under the DPP-led government.
