President Peter Mutharika says his government has made significant achievements during its first year in office, including the introduction of free secondary education and improvements in food security.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Mutharika said his government was committed to ensuring that no qualified student is denied secondary education because of lack of money.
He said the government has also strengthened the higher education loans programme, with support from the banking sector enabling more students to access loans for their studies.

He said the government was putting measures in place to improve access to forex and ensure a more stable supply of fuel.
On food security, Mutharika said his government had managed to make progress in ensuring that the country has enough food.
