EmpowerX Consult Limited has urged organisations in both the public and private sectors to prioritise leadership development by sending their executives to the Nexus Leadership Summit 2026, describing effective leadership as the key to building resilient, innovative and high-performing institutions.
This is according to EmpowerX Consult Limited Director Alick Nyasulu who made the remarks ahead of the Nexus Leadership Summit 2026 that will take place from August 31 to September 2, 2026, at the Livingstonia International Conference Centre at Sunbird Waterfront in Salima.
It is expected to bring together chief executive officers, board chairpersons, directors, senior executives, entrepreneurs and emerging leaders from across Malawi and beyond.
Nyasulu said today’s leaders are operating in an increasingly complex environment characterised by economic uncertainty, rapid technological advancements, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity threats, climate-related risks and evolving stakeholder expectations.
According to Nyasulu, these developments have fundamentally changed the skills and competencies required of modern leaders, making continuous leadership development more important than ever.
“Today, organisations are operating in an environment unlike any we have seen before. Economic uncertainty, technological disruption, artificial intelligence, changing workforce expectations, increasing governance demands, cybersecurity threats, climate-related risks and heightened stakeholder expectations have fundamentally changed what is required of leaders,” said Nyasulu.
He observed that although many organisations have developed sound strategic plans, their biggest obstacle is often implementing those strategies effectively.
“Across Africa and indeed globally, organisations are not failing because of a lack of strategy. Many have excellent strategic plans. The challenge is leadership execution; the ability to inspire people, navigate uncertainty, make sound decisions, build resilient institutions and transform vision into measurable results,” he said.
Nyasulu said the Nexus Leadership Summit was conceived to bridge that gap by creating a platform where executives, board members, senior managers and emerging leaders can engage with internationally recognised experts and exchange practical ideas for addressing real organisational challenges.
Unlike conventional conferences, he said, the summit is designed to provide participants with practical leadership frameworks, executive-level discussions and real-world experiences that can be immediately applied in their workplaces.
“This is not a motivational conference. It is a strategic leadership forum built around practical knowledge, executive conversations, real-world experiences and actionable tools that leaders can immediately apply within their organisations,” he explained.
Nyasulu noted that Malawi is at a critical stage of development where organisations are under growing pressure to improve productivity, strengthen governance, embrace innovation, retain skilled employees and deliver better services despite limited resources.
He stressed that leadership has evolved beyond managing people and now requires executives who can successfully lead transformation, build resilient teams, promote innovation and uphold ethical standards even in challenging circumstances.
“Leadership is no longer simply about managing people. It is about creating adaptive organisations. It is about leading transformation. It is about making difficult decisions. It is about building resilient teams. It is about cultivating innovation. It is about maintaining ethical leadership even under pressure,” he said.
The summit will feature an international faculty comprising renowned leadership expert Mignon Britton, leadership and innovation specialist Timothy Laku, and governance and finance expert Margareth Anne Chirwa.
Nyasulu said the facilitators bring a wealth of global experience while remaining grounded in the realities facing African organisations.
Among the key topics to be discussed are leading organisational change, artificial intelligence and the future of leadership, executive decision-making, corporate governance, ethical leadership, innovation, leadership communication, organisational resilience and strategies for building high-performing institutions.
He said participants will also gain practical insights into leveraging AI responsibly to improve productivity, customer experience and organisational performance while understanding the ethical and governance issues associated with the technology.
According to Nyasulu, delegates will leave the summit with enhanced strategic leadership skills, improved governance capabilities, stronger decision-making abilities and practical approaches to building resilient and high-performing teams.
He added that the event will also provide valuable networking opportunities, allowing executives, entrepreneurs, board members and industry leaders to exchange ideas and build lasting professional relationships.
Nyasulu further described the partnership between EmpowerX Consult Limited and Redpoint Global as a strategic investment in strengthening executive leadership across Malawi and the wider region.
“Leadership has never been more important than it is today. Every organisation is only as strong as the quality of its leadership. The decisions leaders make today will determine the resilience, competitiveness and sustainability of their organisations for years to come,” he said.
He has since encouraged organisations to invest in their leadership teams by registering for the summit, saying participants will return to their workplaces equipped with practical solutions to today’s leadership challenges.
“Leadership is not simply about occupying a position. It is about creating impact. It is about shaping people. It is about influencing the future. And the future belongs to leaders who are prepared,” Nyasulu said.
